The Hiss Quarterly || Volume IV, Issue 3
This site was designed using the latest version of IE. Mozilla & Opera won't show unique text attributes or coding. Thus we recommend using IE(5+) at 1024 x 768 (or higher) resolution in true (32bit) color. THQ is Readable in all browsers, but please, use IE. See THQ the way we intended!
What's With The Ladybugs?!
W e don't know. And further more, you can't see the nifty text attributes for the above statement if you're viewing this page on something other than Internet Explorer. No ... no Stop groaning. This isn't some bizarre commercial enterprise and THQ hasn't sold out. Not that we wouldn't mind selling out; no one has asked us.
C ritical mass might have something to do with the ladybugs but this isn't our annual NC-17 edition so we won't point out what's obvious to some extent. What you've found yourself gazing at is the Summer - Fall issue of The Hiss Quarterly where we're asking you, "How Did You Get Here?"
S ubscribing to our 'zine is free, so we know it didn't cost you anything; at least not from us and we would be delighted if you were to "spend" some time here at our expense. We want it to be worth your while.

Claudia Grinnell is our Featured Poet for Collateral Indigeny. She managed to eloquently tackle what could have been a confusing theme, leaving us to think that perhaps we're not as clever as we think we are! Ms. Grinnell presents us with more questions than answers, but hey, "Why are you here?" & "What are you going to do about it?" |
More people who ask questions and then tell stories about them can be discovered hanging around our Front View Fiction section as well as the pioneers of this quarters Rear View Poetry realm of THQ.
A lighter side of the Collateral Indigenous thought process is a click away at Deliberate NonsenseTM , we think you're going to need it, but use it sparingly, there's only three to go around.
Sheldon Carpenter is the Featured Photographer - - his eclectic lens combined with a vast array of quality pictures gave us more art than we're typically used to having at our disposal, but man, this guy's got it goin' on!
Last but not in the least we're going to give you a chance to revisit this theme again and again. Some of you are aware of the 1001 Journals project, yes? The Hiss Quarterly is starting up journal #2186 - - we're calling it, oddly enough, The Collateral Indigeny Traveling Journal. If you'd like to sign up for it, drop us a line using the side bar link or write to us at hissquarterly (the @ sign) gmail (dot) com if you use a web based server and put "Traveling Journal" in the subject line. We hope to have several sign ups allowing us to create Collateral Indigeny, REDUX! The pages will be scanned, uploaded and ready to share with the world. And hey, it's free.
Speaking of free things in the world, This Is Still Free Too, although we wouldn't mind if you dropped a few coins on some Hiss'n product.

This quarter's THQ
AWARD goes out to the editorial staff and production managers at "Literary Mama". We can't think of anything better than a literary mother. With the exception of other literary kin. Do go read them and tell them we sent you. |

What a great title. What great authors. What a terrific Anniversary, Holiday, or Birthday gift to give to someone! No - - it's not a THQ production, but we're thrilled to see so many THQ contributors between the covers. Velvet Avalanche is a collection of erotic poetry presented by Satjah Products. The book cover image will take you there. We encourage everyone to go reserve a copy now. |
|
The 2006 final edition of THQ was simply so good, so big and BAD (meaning, truly outstanding) we had to print it. Just click on the image for ordering information and other details, including a quick preview. |

A special "Thank You" to our Sponsors for keepin' us hissin', and to Todd Heldt for donating half the proceeds of his book BEFORE YOU WERE A PROPHET to our publishing endeavors. If you're feeling generous, please don't hesitate to do something crazy (or ... not so crazy) by donating some of your hard earned cash to our efforts here. Buy the book. We "pay it forward". A bit of your donation goes to worthy causes besides this space in cyber. We're currently researching Not For Profit status, so at this time your contribution isn't tax deductible, but you could just tell yourself we're lobbying Congress or something. Works for us.
